East London International Convention Centre selects Optima Events.

East London International Convention Centre (ELICC), South Africa’s only Beachfront Convention Centre opened last August with the presence of Mr. Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa.

Managed by Premier Hotels & Resorts, East London International Convention Centre presents East London and the Buffalo City region as a new & competitive conference destination. The convention centre includes a 650-seater auditorium, an exhibition floor (taking up to 110 stands) and a major hall capable of seating 850 ball-room style and 2,200 cinema-style as well as board-rooms, restaurants and kitchens.

The adjacent 261-room five star Premier Hotel Cascades, meanwhile, has also opened and, along with the existing Premier Hotel Regent, presents conference goers with on-site accommodation and top class hotel facilities without having to leave the ELICC precinct. The whole complex, including the restaurants and bars, is managed by the Optima Hotel Management Software Package.

The East London International Convention Centre has been nominated for a Business Travel Award 2010 by the prestigious international publication Business Destinations and has been declared a finalist in the category of Best New Non-Hotel Tourism Investment in the prestigious Hospitality and Investment Africa (HICA) Awards 2010.

“It is a great honour that within five months of opening the ELICC has been recognized in this manner as we hope to turn East London into a new, vital and competitive conference destination,” says Samuel Nassimov, CEO of Premier Hotels & Resorts.

Premier Hotels owner Sam Nassimov also took top honours as regional "Sapoa Developer of the Year" for the convention centre.
"It's great to be recognised for doing something good," Nassimov said, adding: "This award is not just for the developer.  It is great the municipality (BCM) is encouraging development by giving (plans) approval. I personally feel very honoured by this award. It has been my biggest development."
Sources say Premier Hotels invested over R500 Millions in this convention centre and it is said to be among the finest conference centres in Africa.
